First, the Business Profile
For local searches the Business Profile does most of the work. Google says local results come mainly from relevance, distance and prominence, and the page that explains this tells you to verify your business, keep your hours, address, category and attributes accurate and complete, and add photos and videos. Use a local phone number and a web page that belong to the shop. Our Business Profile checklist guide goes through each field.
Second, a simple website
A website helps customers and helps Google understand you. Google's SEO Starter Guide asks for a few plain things:
- A unique, clear, short title on every page. "Home" is not a title; "Sharma Dental Clinic, Vijay Nagar, Indore" is.
- URLs with real words in them.
- Text that says what you do, where you are, your hours and your phone number, kept as text and not only inside an image.
- Sharp photos placed near the text they relate to, each with a short description (alt text).
- Links between your own pages, because Google mainly finds pages by following links from pages it already knows.
Do not stuff keywords. Google says keyword stuffing breaks its spam policies, and that the meta keywords tag is not used.
Third, reviews and replies
Google lists reviews and ratings among the signals of how well known you are, and more reviews and positive ratings can help. Ask every customer the allowed way, and reply to what you get. Google does not say a reply changes your ranking, but it says replies show customers you value feedback.
Fourth, optional extras
LocalBusiness structured data can describe your name, address, hours and phone to Google. It needs at least the name and the address, and Google says it does not promise that features using the markup will show up. It is a nice extra if a developer can add it, not a reason to delay the steps above.
Last, be patient
The SEO Starter Guide says there are no secrets that will automatically rank a site first and that changes can take from a few hours to several months to appear. It suggests waiting a few weeks before judging. If someone promises a top spot in a week, ask them to show you where Google says that is possible. It does not.
