The rule: match the customer
Google's tips ask for polite, personal, short replies. Nothing in them tells you which language to use, so this part is our own advice: write back in the language the customer used. It tells the customer you read what they wrote, and it is easy for the next reader to follow.
Hindi review, Hindi reply
If the review is in Devanagari, reply in Devanagari. Keep the words everyday. A formal, heavy Hindi can sound like a notice board. Example for a delayed order: "नमस्ते रमेश जी, इंतज़ार के लिए माफ़ी चाहते हैं। हम देखेंगे कि देरी कहाँ हुई। कृपया हमें फ़ोन करें तो हम इसे ठीक करें। आपके अगले ऑर्डर का ध्यान हम खुद रखेंगे। - अनिल".
English review, English reply
Keep it as plain as the review. Do not answer a two-line review with a paragraph. Example: "Thank you, Priya. We are glad the haircut turned out the way you wanted. See you next time. - Neha".
Hinglish review
Hinglish is Hindi written in Roman letters, often with English words mixed in. Either language works. If the customer wrote "Service bahut acchi thi", a reply in simple Hinglish or Hindi feels natural. Pick one and stay with it inside the reply instead of switching halfway. If you are unsure, use plain English with one friendly Hindi phrase.
Things to avoid in any language
- A copied template. Google's tips say to avoid generic thank-yous.
- Offers of discounts or free items. The tips say not to use replies to offer deals.
- Private details such as an order, a phone number or a medical issue. Google's tips say not to share the reviewer's private information. Take it to a call or email.
- Google Translate-style stiffness. Read the reply aloud once. If you would not say it to the customer's face, change it.
If your drafting tool does the translation
Whoever or whatever drafts the reply, read it before it goes out, particularly the Hindi, because a wrong word in a public reply is hard to hide. At Reveaxa the owner approves every reply before it is posted. If you run the shop with a partner or a manager, agree who reads the Hindi replies, so the same person catches mistakes each time and the tone stays steady across weeks.
Look at your last five reviews and note the language of each.
How this post was made: an AI drafted it from the official pages listed under Sources, every figure was checked against those pages, and the Reveaxa team approved it before it was published. Our own advice is marked as such. If a source changes, we update the post and its date.
